I've been feeling very in tune with nature recently, and it may be because I'll be leaving my lush backyard in just a couple short weeks. The grounds at school are absolutely breathtaking, but I ran to this backyard in times of self-doubt and need for thought and I'm going to miss how it engulfs me.

Some pretty stellar finds in this outfit. Scoped out those Cole Haan loafers for $15. And that dress at a matching price. Love me some bargain hunting.

Results of Pointing&Shooting

{a nation through a child's window sill}

To debrief from a long day at work, I sat on wooden floors cradling the camera and trying to see my childhood bedroom through its details and not just the whole. Being a rusty amateur with the Canon EOS 60D, I toggled between all the different options until I liked the shot. Even after reading up on forums, I figured just taking some time to play with the camera would be a pretty good investment of my time.

Crossroads Trading Company- shirtdress.
Marshalls- tank.

...

Although  I love the pattern and silk of the shirtdress, the tailors said it could not be altered so I've been debating on whether or not I should sell it. I'd hate parting with it because I've been pining over it ever since Anthropologie first came out with the dress. Ah, sizing struggles.

Anyways, during the past two days I've been more and more intrigued with photography and playing around with composition and moods. It's something I noticed and admired before but never really tried out for myself. It's no wonder that my most favorite class in high school was photography even though I approached it with absolutely no background. I'm reading up on more articles and forums about cameras and photography and trying to be more aware of my own intuition. Here's to snapping at anything that entices!

I absolutely love rain so when the last drops of this morning's downpour fell, I ran out with the camera. Green leaves and flowers are vividly lush when there's a layer of rain on them. And rain makes me feel romantic so I wrapped myself up in lace before stepping outside. Even though there was a post rainfall chill, I loved the feel.

And yes, I'm still obsessing over ear cuffs.

I tried being a tee-shirts kind of girl during my emo middle school years but that didn't transcended into my current style sense. Although I still love the super soft feel of cotton and jersey so I cut up a few old tees yesterday and threw them on today. Wore my "Make Music and Not War" tee to peach&berry picking and then threw on this teal Beatles one once I got home from my afternoon run. Layered some of my favorite floral necklaces to make the look my own, and I was ready for a comfy day.

New Ripenings

Ran out early this morning to go peach and blueberry picking with mom since I had to be home from 11 am to 3 pm [more on that later in the post]. The family went last weekend for blueberries while I was up in New Hampshire, but apparently all my dad and brother did was stroll around. And eat the pickings. They contributed a total of maybe a two pounds and then proceeded to eat at least a pound. Mom got a kick out of them but she was ready for some real hardcore fruit gathering today so that's exactly what we did. I told her that I felt like a woodland dweller picking berries for survival and daily consumption. Basically, I felt like Pocahontas [my most favorite Disney princess], and I think I may be veering off of political correctness, but that's how I felt.

{can you spot it?}
{less than two hours for a mom&daughter duo.}

Even though I generally keep the boyfriend out of posts, I think his craftiness deserves to be recognized.

Now, I had to remain at home [or near home] between eleven and three because he said a surprise would be awaiting me. Let's clear up the fact that I always ruin surprises. Don't watch a movie with me that you've already seen because I WILL ask you to spoil everything at every moment, or watch it with me and tune out my pesterings. That was basically what happened right when he told me about the surprise, and I racked my brain for what it could possibly be. We're long distance for a short bit so I knew it was a package or delivery of some kind, but lo and behold, I never could have guessed.

Details that make me squeal:
I love&collect glass bottles.
The cork stamp.
Dried petals.
The thought itself.

{I have been outdone.}

Giggled all the way through lunch with mom and hauled rusty tables&chairs to the dump with dad. I'd say it was a day for bonding, and I enjoyed every bit of it. Now that dad and I are home, in the words of my seven year old brother, "We're a family again."

I've been using the tripod and self-timer for photos lately, but mom offered to help out today while we were out. And then she saw the train tracks. And had a minor lifeflashinginfrontofyou & daughteriscrazy moment. Well, couple of moments. But then all was fine.

Romantic Ponderings

Fei silk blouse.
Forever 21 black skirt.
H&M gold flower belt.

Finds from my hunts:
Anthropologie [sale rack circa 2009 ish]- blouse.

...

In the midst of epiphanies and redesigns so my mind's been full of jumbling ideas & thoughts. Ever since the post I'm Diving In I've been investing brain juice towards what I envision this blog will become. And quite honestly, I'm conflicted. I'm trying to capitalize on the fact that I'm a full time student with business and art concentrations, but it's a tiffy to meander around. That's alright though since I plan on dedicating some time in solitude [without toys but definitely with food] to sketching out all my romantic and lofty visions.

In lieu of my ponderings, I thought this look matched up pretty well. It comfortably glides around with light fabrics and sweet florals. Plus, I went barefoot. Cause it's always nice to ponder barefoot.

Neon Digits

Handling tech problems all day and wishing it wasn't everyday, although it's beginning to seem like it. Laptop and iPhone and programs are crashing on me as we speak. Good thing this magnificent cover video gives all things techie a good name. Good.

PS: Pretty darn sure twitter is hating on me. Who's been suspended three times? This girl.

Midnight Blue Velvet

I'm thinking ahead- way ahead. I only have about three weeks left at home and then soon autumn will be upon us [can I get a "YAYLEAVES"]. Growing up in New England that means the most beautiful foliage in the world. And that's a pretty tall order. A slight frown comes across my face when I realize that I'll be studying far away as the leaves begin to blush and eventually float down to the ground, but it's just nice to know their seasonal magic exists.

Running parallel to this train of thought is my love for this velvety romper. I'll don bare legs up until there's a chill in the air and then throw on a pair of tights. It can hold its own without accessories but also play backdrop to a stunning necklace or belt or anything. Plus, I love the feel of velvet.

Forever 21 velvet romper.
Forever 21 golf leaf ear cuff.
Seychelles leather studded wedges.
Bestly leather etched satchel.
New York & Company white and gold floral bracelet.
